Meet Blain Collinge — Kaihautū / Co‑Leader of Red Door Recovery.

Blain stands as a strong pou in our whare — a man who walks the talk every single day. His role spans relationship building, leadership, group facilitation, recovery coaching, and being the strong, driven presence our tangata whaiora rely on.

Red Door originally began with his parents, and today Blain carries that legacy forward with passion, and fierce dedication. His heart is big and he cares deeply for our Tangata whaiora.

Only five years ago, Blain was still in the system. Today, he is almost five years clean and sober, an incredible father, a loving partner, and a powerful example of what recovery, courage, and community can make possible.

From the darkest depths of addiction to becoming a leader, facilitator & advocate, Blain uses his lived experience to guide others toward hope. He supports at‑risk youth through LSV, has facilitated Addiction 101 with Blueprint for Learning across Aotearoa, and shows up every day with compassion, and a belief that change is always possible.

Blain shares: “I’m passionate about helping others find recovery — helping our tāne become tāne again, helping our wāhine find their voices, and supporting our people to break free from the prison system.

I believe in our tāngata whaiora when they don’t believe in themselves. I know everyone can become a survivor of their past and live a life they can be proud of, and I will do whatever it takes to help them take those first steps toward recovery.

Addiction and recovery are incredibly hard journeys, but if we can help break the cycle now, we can change the generations to come.”

He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata.

Blain is proof that transformation is real, and that legacy can be rewritten with aroha, purpose, and relentless commitment to the mahi.
