Meet Braeden Foster.

Kaitunu kai / Chef.

Braeden’s career as a chef first started when he was 14 years old working in professional kitchens. At 17 he started and completed an apprenticeship through Craggy Range Winery in Hawkes Bay where he learnt priceless techniques and skills on how to operate a kitchen effectively.

He came into Red Door Recovery in 2024 as his addiction to methamphetamine had him stuck in the gutter.

What made you stay at Red Door after you completed the programme?

“I fell in love with the place, people and program, Red Door has saved my life in all aspects, and continues to do so. Today I am incredibly grateful to be their chef, to have my life back, to give back and walk alongside the new tangata whaiora who want what Red Door gave me, a better life worth living”
