Meet Justine Hamill — Kaihautū / Co‑Leader of Red Door Recovery

Justine brings lived experience & expertise into Red Door Recovery, alongside a powerful journey of change and healing. In her leadership role, she holds many threads — group facilitation, one‑on‑one therapy, business management, and the countless unseen responsibilities that keep our whare grounded, safe, and thriving.

A devoted mother of three adult children and one young step‑daughter, she balances whānau, leadership, and study with grace. Her knowledge runs deep — trained in homeopathy, extensive yoga teacher training, Gestalt Psychotherapy, and now completing her Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Mental Health and Addiction at @tewharewanangaoawanuiarangi

Before Red Door, Justine co‑owned Awhi Yoga & Wellbeing, guiding people back into their bodies, their breath, and their wairua. That same calm, grounded presence now anchors our whare.

She is steady, intuitive, and a powerful voice of reason — gentle when needed, confronting when it matters, and always able to see the potential in those others have given up on. A leader for our wāhine, and someone who helps our tāne believe in themselves again — to stand tall, reclaim their mana, and return to who they truly are.

Her understanding of addiction — its roots, patterns, pain, and pathways to healing — is profound. She leads by example, showing up every day with empathy, clarity, and unwavering belief in people’s ability to change.

Justine shares: “My own journey through addiction and adversity is what led me to this mahi… My purpose is to help others heal, grow, and reclaim their mana. Recovery is
possible. Change is possible. We are all just walking each other home.”

He wahine toa. He wahine mātauranga. He wahine manawa nui.
